_Ecological Tour of the South of the Island
The ecological tour of the southern region of Florianópolis is ideal if you are looking for greater contact with nature and want to know the local culture intimately. The south of the island is the most preserved region of the Island of Magic, with a rich historical-cultural heritage and traditional gastronomy. The eight-hour tour includes transportation, a guide accredited by the Ministry of Tourism, a traditional lunch with home-style food, entry into the Otter Project and tasting oysters as you enjoy the breeze.
the script is the Otter Project, in the Lagoa do Peri. The place counts on an animal refuge where it is possible to observe otters that could not be reintroduced to the wild. Then, it’s time to visit one of the most beautiful beaches in Floripa, Praia do Matadeiro – known for the quality of its waves for surfing, and for being an important strategic point in historical whaling expeditions.
After Praia do Matadeiro, the next stop is the most extreme South beach that can be reached by car, Praia da Solidão. Very well preserved, it is the starting point of a short day trail, which is 1.5km long. Pause for a swim in the Praia do Saquinho and lunch at a local restaurant offering traditional cuisine.
The last neighborhood to be visited is Ribeirão da Ilha, where it is possible to experience a history lesson about Azorean colonization in the region, as well as learning about mariculture. This region is a reference in the production of oysters in Brazil.
